Health Support - Hospice Support

Far North Community Hospice is the only palliative care specialist provider in the very Far North, covering the area from Cape Reinga to Mangamuka. The palliative care team are community based, providing symptom management, and bereavement support. Nurses are available by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Hospice Kaipara provides palliative care and support to people who have a life limiting illness. Their aim is to help people make the most of their lives; to live every moment in whatever way is important to them. Mon-Fri, 8am-4.30pm. A Hospice nurse is available during these hours for phone support or home visiting. For after hours phone support ring 0800 395 467 or contact your local GP service.

Hospice Mid-Northland provide specialist palliative care for those diagnosed with a life-limiting illness as well as care and support for their family/whanau.Monday - Friday 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. On call service 24/7. No referral required.

North Haven Hospice provide specialist palliative care to people living with life limiting conditions both within their inpatient unit (which services the whole of Northland) and in patients homes/community. Their service is holistic, focusing on assisting the physical symptoms and pain management as well as supporting patients and their whanau with their spiritual, cultural, emotional and social needs. In addition, they provide bereavement support and counselling. They respect peoples' right to choice however the hospice does not provide assisted dying services.
