The Northland Indian Association (NIAI) was set up in 2008. Its aim is to promote Indian culture and well being in the Northland Indian community. The Association creates opportunities to preserve Indian culture in New Zealand and develop friendship through a broad range of activities in music, dance, sports, arts, food and entertainment. NIAI is not a religious organisation.

The Whangarei Korean Association provides support and companionship for people of Korean descent and encourages diversity in Whangarei. The Korean School happens every Saturday at Kamo Baptist Church from 3:30pm to 5:00pm.
