This self-management programme is for people with type 2 diabetes and their whanau/support persons. There are three 2-hour sessions, either mornings or evenings. The programme covers: What is diabetes. Symptoms. Possible complications. Medications. Keeping active. Understanding lab tests. Foot care. Food choices (fats, sugars, salt, carbs). Setting health goals. Psychology. Label Reading. We have individual dietician consultations for people with type 2 diabetes in the WDHB area. Clinics are held throughout he WDHB regions. Healthline is a free, 24 hour a day, telephone health advice service.
